Indian Standard: Drafted (Quality Control) Order, 2025

This is to inform you that the Bureau of Indian Standards Act 2016 (11 of 2016) has issued the Bearings (Quality Control) Order, 2025, on behalf of the Indian government. This notice is published as a draft now and will apply to all businesses, distributors, exporters, new applications, and licenses that are currently in force as of the date it is published in the official gazette.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Commerce issued this directive to encourage commerce and business. The order seeks to control the quality of bearings in the market, with adherence to set standards and enhancing product reliability. It requires all parties to comply with the set quality parameters to promote efficiency in trade and consumer confidence.

Conditions for Adherence:
The guidelines outlined in the Bearings (Quality Control) Order (2025) QCO must be followed by the applicable Indian Standard as defined in the Quality Control Order.
Standard Mark:
Goods listed in the QCO must bear the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark of conformity, which is issued under a license obtained by Scheme I of Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Application:
These Indian Standards must be followed by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises as defined by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006) as given below:
Exemption:
This order will not apply to the following situations:
1. Imports for Research & Development (R&D) by Bearing Manufacturers:

NOTE: Nothing in this order applies to domestically produced commodities or articles intended for export.
