Category: BIS Registration (CRS)
The BIS CRS Registration for Self-Ballasted LED Lamps (IS 16102 Part 1) is mandatory in India. Requiring manufacturers to get their products tested in BIS-approved labs for safety and performance, then apply online via the BIS portal with documents like manufacturing licenses, test report (TRF), and Critical Components List (CCL), to get the license, ensuring compliance for market entry. This process involves online submission, offline hardcopy submission, scrutiny, and final license grant, ensuring quality and consumer safety.
The Indian Standard 16102 (Part 1) specifies the safety and performance requirements for self-ballasted LED lamps intended for general lighting purposes. The BIS Registration under this standard ensures that products meet national safety norms and perform consistently under standard operating conditions. It falls under the Compulsory Registration Scheme- Scheme II.
On 13th September 2015, BIS made self-ballasted LED lamps mandatory for registration as per IS 16102 (Part 1). Without BIS Registration, you cannot manufacture, sell, store, or distribute it in the Indian Market.
BIS Registration India of Self-Ballasted LED Lamps for General Lighting under Scheme II of Schedule II confirms that the lamps are of high quality and safe. Self-ballasted LED lamps are among the lighting technologies that have become more and more accepted in the general lighting sector. These lamps are made to easily fit with the older light fixtures and incorporate their own drivers, which do away with the need for a separate ballast.
Moreover, Self-Ballasted LED lamps have an added benefit in that they can be created in such a way that they can cover an entire range of lighting needs. A good example can be to let them be made to produce either warm or cool white light, to have a high color rendering value, or to be dimmable. This flexibility helps self-ballasted LED lamps to be a wise choice for various lighting situations, be it residential, commercial, or industrial.
